Auckland Council to pay $10 million to homeowners after Commerce Commission investigation into insulation loans

Auckland Council is to repay over $10 million in interest and fees to homeowners it lent money to so they could insulate their homes. The Commerce Commission issued a formal warning to the council for potential breaches of the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Act, which regulates lending, in relation to its Retrofit Your Home Programme (RYH).
